Easy 7-Card Rummy for kids

Although you can play with the EduCardGames any of the existing and known Rummy card games, using the many other rules and variations, it is suggested for kids to start playing the easy and simple 7 card Rummy rules.

What You Will Need:

  • Two or more players
  • EduCardGames pack (preferably two packs)

Dealing the Cards

  • To start a game deal each player 7 cards.
  • Any remaining cards should be placed in the middle as a stack. The first card in the pile should be turned face up.

Aim of the game

  • The object of the game is to be the first player to declare “Rummy”.
  • To declare Rummy, you need to match your 7 cards so you have “set” of cards (a set can be 3 or 4 of a kind, all cards having the same number) or a run of 3 or 4 cards in the same suit (symbol).

How to Play
  • The person to the left of the dealer starts. They can either pick up the card face up, or take the next card from the top of the pile.
  • Then they must discard one card.
  • And then it moves to the next player’s turn…
  • Each player is trying to meld (mix) runs and sets in his hand. A run is a sequence of at least 3 consecutive cards in the same suit (symbol) such as 10♣, J♣, Q♣, K♣ or such as 3♥, 4♥, 5♥, 6♥. A set is a group of at least 3 cards of the same number (5♥, 5♣, 5♠).
  • The first player who achieved with his 7 cards a valid mix of runs and/or sets declares “Rummy” and wins. If you reach, during the game, the end of the pack of cards before a “Rummy” was declared, simply turn over the pack and keep going!
  • The Joker card can become any required card that is needed to create a set or a run.
  • Player does not lay down his/her sets and runs until ready to declare “Rummy”.
